Patharchy in Society

Some schools of patharchy are simply part of the background, common tools for various lines of work within Reach society, available as part of the educational system. A smattering of mnemonics is most common, along with speed reading.

Other examples:

• Medical & psychiatric workers, court and commerical verifiers, detectives, and spies use perceptual patharchy and higher-level mnemonics.
• Athletes, military personnel, and law enforcement and security officers often use hysterics and psychosomatics
• Actors and demagogues often use suggestion patharchy.

Wide-ranging, general patharchy is practiced mostly by hobbyists and enthusiasts, or by people who do so as part of their spiritual discipline, or by patharchy teachers. Of course, these groups overlap. A general patharch is viewed as eccentric and exceptional, but given a fair bit of respect – a wizardly figure.

The poorly educated may expect patharchs to be psychic and confuse patharchy with psi with magic. It is associated in the public mind with Pantomorpheanism, because it is popular among Pantomorpheans as a tool for spiritual discipline.
